I hope that this blog will inspire others to pack light and head off on their own adventures. So on this page I want to share any little gems we find around the world to help people plan for their own trips whether short or long, near or far, alone or together.
Nestled in the Catskill Mountain range at the top of the Appalachians, Lazy Pond is on the edge of a small town called Liberty. With a homely feel, comfy beds and decent pillows Lazy Pond has every thing you need and is an ideal base for exploring the region. The owners were away when we visited but their son, Matt, could not have been more welcoming and friendly for us and our children. He cooked us up an incredible American breakfast and played in the snow with the children. For us, Lazy pond was a home from home and just what we needed for a few days to find our feet at the start of our big adventure.
The region also offers an impressive range of activities in summer and winter and is a centre for arts and music, having hosted Woodstock back in 1969. It’s got wonderful wildlife in the area too and is a great place for bird watching, particularly for bald eagles.
